Yesterday, I was taking a load of laundry to the line in the backyard. My usual route crosses between the gardening shed and the butterfly bush. However, I stopped in my tracks when I noticed a garden spider’s incredible web. These spiders weave large, intricate webs–and I appreciate their work in my garden to keep bad bugs away from my plants. So, I turned around and took the long way to the laundry line.
Time was moving quickly for me. I needed to get some pictures for an article that I’m writing for Lancaster Newspapers. Basically, I needed to get this short load up on the line, hurry back inside for lunch, and run out the door. I was thinking about the next thing on my to do list, walking back up to the house, when I crashed face first into the spider web. Ughhhh! I started putting my hands through my hair trying to get the silk off of me and I ran inside for John to inspect to make sure the spider wasn’t crawling on my back. Yikes!
Fortunately, Mrs. Spider moved on from her web. I felt bad that I destroyed her artwork, but was very thankful that she didn’t decide to nest on me. I just hope the neighbor didn’t see my crazy lady act in full gear!
I think I’ve done the very same thing! 🙂
All I can say is “Ahhh!” I’m not a spider fan–I respect them, but don’t want to get up close and personal with them! 🙂
You should see the spider outside my bay window. He’s huge. The kids have named him Venom. His web is indeed beautiful, as long as he stays outside….
I agree–Venom is an awesome name–as long as he’s outside! 🙂
